1996 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur

Here is a very unique and interesting Rolls-Royce that holds a special place in modern Rolls-Royce history. The Silver Spur "Springfield" edition was named in recognition of when Rolls-Royces were assembled in Springfield, Massachusetts. That year being 1921 and as such, in 1996 Rolls-Royce created 21 of these special edition Springfields in recognition of the 75th anniversary. It appears, however, 27 became the final number. They were made in cooperation with famous coach-builders; Mulliner Park-Ward. Distinguishing features of this rare model include; · A small, traditional opera-style rear window · Special "vintage-period" colour combinations · Madrona veneer, cherry crossbanding, boxwood inlay treatment of all interior wood · Chrome instrument bezels. · Chrome bezelled clock added to rear centre console · Commemorative Madrona veneer plaque with inlaid gold inscription celebrating Springfield 75th anniversary to front of Centre console · A stainless steel commemorative plaque to drivers door treadplate. · Extra chrome finishers on the front bumper. · Very unique tufter leather interior (chesterfield style) to retrospect Rolls-Royce coach-work of the 1920s. This encompasses front and rear seats, headlining and door armrests. Each colour combination was chosen in accordance with the colour schemes of the original Springfield cars. These were known as: · Buckingham - black/grey · Pickwick - black/green · Canterbury - black/blue · Mayfair - black/maroon · Stratford - cream/white These are shown below. This particular Springfield is number 10 in the series and is in the "Pickwick" colour combination; black over Spruce green. It has black Connolly hides with Spruce green accented piping and floor rugs with overlay green lambs-wool moutons. The Spruce green floor rug theme carries thru to the boot. This particular example has the unique addition of colour coordinated beauty rings to the wheel caps, which is a lovely point of distinction. This was a Canadian delivered car and is a 1 owner from new. It presents in excellent and immaculate condition. Her condition is amazing throughout and the best way to describe her is to pretend you are in the year 2000 and you are buying this 1996 from your Rolls-Royce showroom floor; this its condition! The Silver Spur is powered by a 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce designed V8 engine with the Bosch fuel injecton system. This is what is known as a 50,000 series car (VIN# 58,205) so it contains all the engineering and electrical improvements of the model and is considered the best of the SZ series (Silver Spirit/Spur/Bentley series 1981-1997). The car has been part of a private collection and in the last 10 years had been climate control stored as part of a vast array of Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars. The collection was maintained by a full-time Rolls-Royce trained curator and was subject to very regular and uncompromised maintenance. It shows all the hallmarks of a perfect example in this regard. It was originally a Canadian delivered car (fully USDOT compliant) so the odometer shows in kilometres. The mileage shown is actually quite mind boggling because it indicates some 99,000 (conveted from klms) when the car truly looks like a 30,000 mile example. It has recently been thru Park-Ward's workshop, fully inspected, and anything requiring doing attended to. Mechanically, this car needs nothing and is entirely up to date on its services. Under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. It has not been precision detailed but simply kept clean and tidy throughout its life. The body of the car is straight and the paint deep in lustre and consistency. Upon walking around the car, it is hard to find anything but the tiniest of blemishes. It appears to be all original.
